Well, March is here and there is no sign of Spring. In fact, as I sit here typing all I see outside my office window is a blanket of snow. It is beautiful, peaceful, and very cold! So, in order to give me hope of warmer days, I opened up my Farmer's Almanac planting guide. It was a little depressing at first. There is only a 30% probability that we will be frost free after April 29th!!!! Seriously? A month away from Memorial Day there is only a 30% chance of no frost!?! That Phil, you just can't trust him.
I decided to turn to a more reliable source...one that has been guiding acreage owners since 1792...The Old Farmer's Almanac. I looked at the indoor starter guild for seedlings. I was excited to see that starting yesterday I can begin sticking my little seeds in their boxes. According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, I can start my tomatoes, cabbage, my cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, and my broccoli NOW! :) I am actually even a little behind in the planting of my peppers and leeks as they could have gone in the dirt a couple of weeks ago.
Take heart! There will be warmer days ahead. Next month I can stick my watermelon seeds in their first home.
Until Next Month...
